Channeling Colleen Wainwright

This is my weekly installment of “writing about writing,” in which I scan the world to find websites, books and articles to help writers.

What do I like about Colleen Wainwright?

I like the way she writes: she’s informal, she’s funny, she’s honest. I like her passion for life. She shaved her head to celebrate her 50th birthday and to raise $50,000 in 50 days for her favourite non-profit organization, Write Girl. (And she liked the results so much she’s kept on shaving her head!) She writes poetry. She reviews books. She makes videos. Her blog is called Communicatrix. I find the name hilarious.

What don’t I like about Colleen Wainwright? She no longer posts daily, like she used to, which pretty much sucks. But that’s my only complaint. Otherwise I think she’s a great writer, a spritely web presence and a great buddy to have. Check out her blog. Bookmark it. Read whenever she writes. I feel more energetic every time I read something she’s written. (She ought to bottle that!)
