This is my weekly installment of “writing about writing,” in which I scan the world to find websites, books and articles to help writers. Today I tell you about Caitlin Muir.
I’m an incredibly productive writer — not because I’m particularly smart or even a hard worker, but because I use technology to help myself whenever possible. Here’s a blog that’s given me some great ideas and that might help you as well: AuthorMedia.
I can’t remember how I found it — perhaps the author, Caitlin Muir (pictured here), had posted in another blog I read — but AuthorMedia is now scheduled into my Google reader. As a result, I’ve learned:
- how to pick the right stock photo every time
- how to schedule posts on my Facebook timeline
- 3 ways to use Pinterest guilt-free
I like it that Caitlin’s posts are short, practical and clearly written. Caitlin Muir bills her blog as “help for authors timid about technology.” Some of the smartest people I know are afraid of technology — and this makes me so sad. Not only are they missing the opportunity to make their writing lives easier, they’re also losing out on the chance to self-promote themselves and their writing. Don’t be a Luddite!
Take some baby steps, today, and learn how to make technology help you achieve your own goals. Take a peek at Caitlin’s site.
